  • Applicants with recent secondary education Assumed knowledge: Mathematics Advanced, Physics.
  • Other applicants Refer to the UNSW Canberra general admission criteria. | Trainee officers : Trainee officers for ADFA must complete the ADF Careers recruitment process and be selected by one of the three armed services of the Australian Defence Force.
  • Applicants must apply online or by telephone on 13 19 01.
  • In addition, applicants must meet the academic requirements to study at UNSW Canberra and apply online through UAC.
  • ADF current serving members: UNSW Canberra accepts applications from post-school officer applicants who are Defence Force personnel applying for entry through service commissioning schemes.

  • Non-Defence students: UNSW Canberra will accept students who satisfy the requirements of the first two years of a Mechanical Engineering four year degree program at any Australasian tertiary institution.
  • These students may be admitted to Years 3 and 4 of the program, leading to the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Naval Architecture, as long as the courses studied at the other institution are equivalent.
